Weekly News – Thursday 6th December

Message from the Headmistress

Dear Parents,

You may note it is a Thursday newsletter. This is because school is closed tomorrow: Friday 7th December for our Prize Giving holiday.

Though we have heard signs of Christmas emanating from the hall as the Junior School prepares for its Christmas Production, in Senior School we have been hard at work. Our Christmas festivities starts next week… oh, with the little exception of the fabulous Year 7 Christmas video assembly which you can watch here if you haven’t already seen it. It is very lovely.

I am now getting desperate for donations from parents of single (or more) items to contribute to the Friends of Hollygirt raffle hampers. All festive treats gratefully received in my office. The shelf is a little lacking in abundance at the moment and there is currently one hamper worth. Usually we make it to at least 6. Tickets will be on sale from next week and will be sent home with the children. Remember, the money the Friends make in their fundraising is allocated to the staff to spend on special items to enhance the opportunities your children are offered and pays for some of the special treats, like discos. Please send in items by next Thursday (13th).

Events next week and until the end of term:

Monday 10th – Carol Service 7.00pm at St Peter’s Church (next to Marks and Spencer) This is a compulsory event for all children in Years 3 to 11.

Wednesday 12th – Reception to Year 6 are singing in the Victoria Centre

Wednesday 12th – Year 9 Parents’ Evening

Thursday 13th – Year 1 to 6 visit to the Pantomime

Friday 15th – Christmas Jumper Day; Year 7 cake sale; staff night out!

Monday 17th – Junior Christmas Production at St Jude’s Church Hall 2.00pm

Tuesday 18th –  Christmas Fair 1.30pm – 3.30pm

Wednesday 19th  –  EYFS and Years 1 and 2 Christmas Activity Afternoon; Year 3-6 Christmas Disco 4.00pm – 6.00pm

Thursday 20th – Own clothes day in exchange for tins or packets of food stuffs for food bank. End of term 12.30pm

Further information and key details of all these events will be posted through our social media channels and website as well as in letters sent home.

As routines go a little to pot and children get excited, tensions tend to increase and we usually start to experience friendship fall outs at this time of year. Please try to ensure that all get enough sleep and plenty hearty food to keep things moving…

I hope you all have a lovely extended weekend.

Message from the Head of Juniors

Dear Parents,

On Tuesday, Years 3 and 4 performed in the Victoria Centre; they were brilliant! Next Wednesday, we are taking all children from Reception to Year 6 to sing for a short session in the morning.  Please come and support us if you can.

On Monday, it is the Carol Service. KS2 need to be at St Peter’s by 6:30pm in the evening and should be dressed in formal uniform.

Next Thursday, Years 1 to 6 are going on a trip to the pantomime.  Children do need to be collected from The Playhouse at the end of the performance.

On Friday 14th December, children can come to school in their Christmas jumpers (over their uniform). This is to raise money for Save the Children and so we are asking them to bring in £1.

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the extra day tomorrow.

Mrs Wright
Head of Juniors
