Message from the Deputy Head

Dear Parents,

We started this week with me presenting an assembly on Discrimination.  The assembly focused of helping pupils understand that we are all individuals and we should celebrate and embrace our differences.  Today we raised awareness of Zero Discrimination Day in Form Time by making origami butterflies to represent the Hollygirt community.

On Tuesday we had a visit from the Fire Service to advise us on our fire safety processes in school.  The team said that our school is well managed in terms of fire safety.  Also on Tuesday some of our Year 9s created their own high street bakery which tasted absolutely delicious as you can see…

Our Year 7 took park in a French Fashion Show this week.  Pupils were allowed to come into school in non-uniform for the show.  They danced down the catwalk and then talked in French describing their partner.  Bon effort tout le monde!

On Thursday, we had Pupil Voice in Form Time where our Form Representatives lead a discussion on quality of education at Hollygirt.

Congratulations to the Y9 Dodgeball team who achieved a silver medal in their competition on Wednesday.

On Friday 15th March, it is the staff and parents Curry Night.  I look forward to seeing you then – more details of how to book will be coming out soon.

Message from the Head of Prep

Good afternoon,

Year 3 and 4 welcomed their parents and grandparents to school on Tuesday and speaking to some of you at Parents’ Evenings, I know you had a lovely afternoon.  If you couldn’t make Parents’ Evenings this week, Form Teachers are more than happy to arrange a meeting at an alternative date.

A reminder that as part of World Book Day celebrations, children in the Prep School are taking part in a House “Poetry and Prose Reading Competition” on Wednesday 6th March.  Parents are invited to this event, which will take place in the Main School Hall.  In order to accommodate audiences from both Key Stage One and Two, we will be hosting 2 separate assemblies.  For Key Stage 2 parents, this will be from 9.05am to 10.15am and for Early Years and Key Stage 1 parents, from 2.15pm to 3.30pm.  On Thursday 7th March, all children are welcome to come to school in costume if they wish to, dressed as their favourite character from a book or film.

Next Friday afternoon, EYFS and KS1 are visiting Stonebridge City Farm.  I am sure this will be a very enjoyable trip and will prepare them for some of their topics in Science Week which falls later this term.

Have a lovely weekend,

Victoria Wright
Head of Prep
