Message from the Headmistress
We have completed our first week back after half term and Senior School is still quiet. GCSE exams continue apace and pupils in Years 7 to 10 are getting back the results of their internal exams, which will be fully reported to parents at the end of this term.
I hope half term was pleasant – I know the UK had some lovely weather as well as serious thunderstorms – I was away so missed all the excitement.
Next week sees Summer Term events kick off. We start with Junior Sports Day on Monday; Senior Sports Day on Thursday; and the Senior School Summer Concert on Thursday evening at 7.00pm in the NHS Music Room. You will have received letters about these. Letters are always available on the Parents section of the website if you have missed one.
On Friday, the geographers depart on their field trip to Dorset.
We have already started planning next year’s calendar and one early notice is for the Year 7 and 8 planned residential to Wales. I came across this at conference and thought it looked spectacular. Letters are due for return for this exciting venture.
Our end of term events to celebrate 140 years of Hollygirt School kicks off with our whole school internal event on 28th June. This is followed on the Saturday (30th June) by the Junior School Garden Party which is running alongside an event for former pupils and staff in the White House Garden. In the evening of Saturday 30th June, current parents are invited to join us for a Gala Dinner in the spectacular Ball Room in Nottingham Council House to celebrate Hollygirt’s history and its future; this is an 18+ only event. We have a limited number of tickets remaining. Further information and the link to purchase tickets online can be found here: www.hollygirt.co.uk/140Years/
Have a lovely weekend.
Message from the Head of Juniors
Welcome back! I’ve very much enjoyed hearing about the things the children got up to during their week off; I’m glad they were able to relax and have fun. This is a really exciting term with so much going on – please keep your eye out for letters coming home about forthcoming events.
Years 5 and 6 had a fantastic time at the World Mixed Relay Triathlon yesterday, cheering the teams on during their warm up and participating in run-cycle-run activities.
On Monday, it is Sports Day for Years 1 to 6 at Highfields Sports Ground. This will begin at 1.00pm. Please remember that there is no fixed seating so we would advise you to bring chairs. You are welcome to take children home afterwards but please let staff know. Otherwise, we shall take the children back to school and After School Club will operate as usual.
Next Thursday is a busy day! KS1 are going on their time travelling trip to Southwell Minster whilst KS2 will be spending some of the day at the Nottingham Open, playing and watching tennis (details of this will follow but please note we will be leaving early). In the afternoon, Reception will be having a further tennis session at Magdala Tennis Club. After School, we will be holding a meeting at 4.00pm to discuss planned curriculum changes.
Have a lovely weekend.
