Message from the Headmistress
It is clear this week that Year 11 are getting closer to their GCSEs. The Spanish oral examinations have been held, (thank you to Mrs Kara for returning to do these). At the end of the week, the 2 groups of GCSE artists have been producing their final Art pieces and, next week, the French orals take place. With just 2 weeks left in school for Year 11 pupils, we are hoping all take advantage of the additional sessions that have been arranged for their revision.
Mr Dean and I have now interviewed all the candidates for prefects and there will be announcements made shortly about the successful candidates, before we move on to seeing applications for the Head Girl/Boy position. We follow a fair and transparent process in all selections for school officers and the ultimate decisions are made by democratic ballot.
We were delighted to have 4 visitors at our April EYFS Stay and Play session. With such a lot of interest in this area, we are seeking early acceptances to ensure spaces are available. Looking forwards to further opportunities for prospective families to visit us, we have a scheduled Open Day for EYFS and Junior School planned for Saturday 19th May. Let your friends know if they would like to get a flavour of what Hollygirt has to offer.
On Thursday, our Year 7 and 8 able mathematicians completed the UK Junior Maths Challenge – we await their results with interest.
Next week, on Thursday 3rd May, all parents are invited to attend the Art Preview – which is a display of our Year 11 artists work. The White House is open from 4.30pm -7.00pm for viewings (access via Villa Road).
On Friday 4th May at 4.00pm, the Parents’ Forum will meet in my room. If anyone would like to come along, let Lucy know (email@example.com) and please submit any agenda items to her by mid-week. The forum is an opportunity for parents to raise generic questions about the school. You do not have to attend to submit an agenda item, though we may need to contact you for more information so anonymous suggestions are not considered.
I remind parents that Monday 7th May is a Bank Holiday and school will be closed.
We still have a small number of tickets available for our 140 years Gala Dinner on Saturday 30th June– more information can be found at: www.hollygirt.co.uk/140years/
Plans are afoot for the day time celebration which will overlap with the Junior Garden party on the afternoon of the same date. More information to follow shortly. Our new history book will be available for sale from the end of June. Once it has gone to print, we will be seeking advance orders.
Here’s hoping for a sunny weekend, have a good one…
Message from the Head of Juniors
Not such a warm and sunny week but nevertheless, we have had a great week and enjoyed welcoming visitors during Stay and Play and taster days.
You will have noticed that the back gate to the junior building is now operated by a key code. Please make sure this gate remains closed at all times for the security of all children.
Thank you to the Friends of Hollygirt for sponsoring a Hollygirt sports kit. Mr Goodhead is delighted with it! Pictures will follow.
Have a lovely weekend,
Head of Juniors
