Weekly News – Friday 17th May

Message from the Headmistress

Dear Parents,

Production of the weekly newsletter falls to me this week as Mrs Hutley is away in Eastbourne at the ISA Annual Conference.

Year 11 examinations are now in full swing and there is an earnest hush around the Senior School. Our own internal examinations take place over the last week of half term.

I am seeing many folders full of revision, lots of mind maps and an abundance of flash cards, good luck to all.

Although we expect all pupils in Years 7 to 10 to take the exams seriously, I am minded to say that these tests are a series of stepping stones to our final destination, GCSE examinations. A reminder to all that sleep, nutrition and hydration are also important parts of being successful in exams.

Have a lovely weekend.

Dear Parents,

We were so lucky to have had such a beautiful day for Junior Sports Day on Monday and it was great to see so many parents there. Thank you to Mr Deacon and the PE department for organising the afternoon with such a variety of races. Some very close and exciting finishes; well done to all competitors and especially those who took home the cups at the end.

An excellent result yesterday for our Year 3 and 4 tennis stars who travelled to the tennis centre to compete in the Nottinghamshire mini tennis championships and were placed first; we look forward to hearing of their success in the final.

KS2 have been working incredibly hard this week revising for their tests next week. I am sure the preparation will all pay off and I wish them all the best of luck.

Please could I remind you that children should have blazers in school at all times including days when going offsite for PE or Games.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Wright
Head of Juniors
