Message from the Headmistress
Dear Parents,
This is a shorter communication from me this week. Safe to say it has been a glorious week and in Senior School we have been trying to ‘Sparkle’. One day we were even treated to cakes at the end of the day which certainly made me smile.
I am sorry Villa Road was closed for road works this morning. If the potholes are sorted, then fair enough, but I wasn’t aware of the planned closure so wasn’t able to alert you to the inconvenience at dropping off time.
Our Duke of Edinburgh pupils are out on their final expedition this weekend. I hope that they have a great walk/camp and that they take plenty of sun-cream, hats and fluids. It is going to be a scorcher. Good luck to all.
You may have heard in the news that Ockbrook school, near Derby, is sadly closing down at the end of this term. Should you know anyone from there who is looking for a school place, Hollygirt is holding a mini open event on 23rd June for their enquiries.
The trip to Paris and Barcelona has become oversubscribed, very suddenly today, the last day for receipt of deposits. We are currently holding a waiting list and have allocated the places to those whose payments were received at the bank first. We will be in communication with all parents to confirm their space has been reserved or not, meanwhile, we are still investigating whether we can expand the number of pupils we can take and all interested parties will be invited to the zoom meeting on Monday next week. We are overwhelmed by the level of interest, and very happy the trip can go ahead.
We are still planning for what can (and maybe cannot) happen as this term continues apace. Sports days are on!
Have a fantastic weekend,
Mrs Hutley

Message from the Head of Juniors
Dear Parents,
Welcome back. I hope you all had a fantastic half term. We were so lucky with the weather and it certainly made a huge difference to have beautiful sunny days. It looks set to continue and with that in mind, please could you make sure the children have sun cream and hats in school.
It was great to see Mrs Taylor back in school this week delivering her Speech and Drama lessons. If you would like to child to attend lessons, please contact Mrs Taylor if you haven’t done so already.
Years 5 and 6 have thoroughly enjoyed their trip to The Mill this week. I visited yesterday just as they were testing out the rafts they had built and then after lunch, they went back onto the reservoir, this time on kayaks. The children (and staff) have had such great fun with their friends. Have a look at the photos on our social media pages. I am so pleased that we have been able to run these trips this year as the children really benefit from the experience. Thank you to Mrs Keyworth, Mr Goodhead and Mr Ockleford for leading this trip.
Next week it is the turn of Years 3 and 4 who are going to Perlethorpe for a one-night residential. I know they are really excited about this and I am sure they will have a fantastic time.
We are still planning to hold Sports Days this year and the children are working hard in their PE lessons to prepare for this. More details on these will follow next week.
If you have any items which you wish to donate to our Garden Party, please send them into school. This year, this will be held on Friday 2nd July and will just be for the children (in their bubbles). We would like any new toys or children’s gifts, chocolate or bottles. Additionally, we will still be running a raffle and tickets will be sent home for this; if you are able to donate a raffle prize, we would be extremely grateful for this.
The week’s Stars of the Week can be viewed here.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Wright
