Message from the Headmistress
We have had a short week, but it hasn’t felt like it! We hope you had a good Bank Holiday weekend.
Our girls’ football team had a great time at Queen Ethelburgas in York on Tuesday playing in the northern qualifying round of the ISA U13 Football Tournament. We came third playing against some big strong teams and had to dig deep to win 5-1 in the 3rd/4th place playoff. Well done to the whole team!
On the wettest day of a very wet week we held our Summer Term Open Day. We had a good crowd of prospective parents and their children looking round and we hope to see some of them back in school for taster days soon. It is not too late for parents to recommend children for next September start. Remember to use your vouchers!
Thursday saw our dress rehearsal and first night’s performance of the Senior School production of ‘We Will Rock You’. I have heard great reports from last night and can’t wait to see it later today! Well done to the whole cast and crew for giving this fantastic opportunity to our pupils. Do come along 7.00pm to 8.30pm in the Senior School hall. Tickets are available.
Today, our Year 11 pupils leave school, they have a nice day of celebrations planned (including pizza and a variety of book signings and farewell events.) We very much enjoyed their leavers’ assembly yesterday, looking back on their time in school. Our Head Girl, Jess, has spent 13 of her 16 years at Hollygirt School!
Next week, we have Parents’ Forum on Monday at 4.00pm in Mrs Hutley’s office. If you have any points you would like to be discussed or would like to attend, please let Lucy know on email@example.com .
Formal GCSE written examinations start next week. Heads up, internal school exams are the week after so no one should be at a loose end on their evenings…
Have a good weekend.
Message from the Head of Juniors
I hope you all had a relaxing Bank Holiday and enjoyed the extra day. A shorter but nevertheless very busy week in school, including another successful Open Day on Wednesday.
Key Stage Two watched the first performance of We Will Rock You yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Congratulations to Mr Thompson and all children involved; we know how much work has gone into rehearsals. A special mention to Izzy and Charlotte in Year 6 who had the honour of being part of this senior production; they were fantastic.
This morning, junior children are looking forward to their tennis workshops delivered by Nottingham Tennis Centre coaches.
On Monday, it is Junior Sports Day for Years 1 to 6; I hope you can join us. Please be aware that there is no fixed seating but please feel free to bring your own. We aim to begin races at 1.00pm. EYFS have their own Sports Day later this term in school.
Mr Ockelford is taking 4 children from Years 3 and 4 to a tennis tournament on Thursday at The Tennis Centre; good luck to all of them.
Next week, we also begin our revision week for Key Stage Two in preparation for their tests the following week. Through the week, we will revisit topics covered over the year and teach children about study skills and exam technique.
Have a lovely weekend.
