Message from the Acting Head

Dear Parents,

It’s a 6 day week for many of our pupils this week with our Open Day tomorrow.  This is an opportunity to showcase what a wonderful school we have and I am grateful to all of the pupils who will be volunteering their time tomorrow to be Tour Guides and taking part in learning experiences.  For those who are volunteering, they can be collected at 11.30am from the Prep Garden.

Our new Year 10 Prefects were announced on Monday in assembly and we received an excellent Earth Day assembly from Mrs Williams who talked about how we can look after our environment.

Today and yesterday, Mr Dean, Mrs Skov and Mr Gray have accompanied the Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh pupils on their practice walk and exhibition.  The Duke of Edinburgh Award builds life-long belief in themselves, supporting them to take on their own challenges and I am sure the pupils have had a rewarding experience.

Year 9 took part in workshops to complete their Bronze Arts Award and Miss Seaton was very proud and thought all of the pupils were ‘awesome’.

On Monday, we have the parents French Trip meeting after school.  Mrs Brimblecombe has worked very hard in planning the trip to ensure the pupils have a memorable experience.

I look forward to seeing our amazing pupils at Open Day tomorrow.

Have a lovely weekend.

Message from the Head of Prep / Deputy Head of Seniors

Good afternoon,

Firstly, what an absolutely amazing Science Fair this morning.  Well done to all the children who produced such fantastic projects and presented them so confidently to other children, staff, parents and grandparents.  The knowledge the children shared was so impressive.  Thank you so much for supporting the children with these at home and for joining us this morning; the children really enjoyed being able to show and talk about their work.

Tomorrow is of course Open Day and thank you to all the children who are able to be in school to either tour parents or work with their teachers.  I am sure it will be a very successful event.

On Monday afternoon, Years 1 to 6 are participating in a Swimming Gala which I am sure the children will very much enjoy.  Children should come to school in PE kits and bring swimming kits with them.  We plan to make this an annual event again and hopefully next year, will be able to invite parents to spectate too.

The Friends of Hollygirt are hosting a disco for the Prep School children after school on Wednesday next week.  Children should bring clothes to get changed into at the end of the day. Thank you for all the offer of help.  Miss Nisan will be contacting you with more details.

On Thursday, Key Stage 2 will be visiting the National Justice Museum.  I know they are very much looking forward to this and it will be a valuable learning experience.

Have a lovely weekend,
