My first words this week need to be: Thank You. As you are aware, we had a team of inspectors from ISI in school Tuesday to Thursday as part of the three-year review cycle. Thank you to all of you for your support and kind words, and to those of you who completed the parent surveys, the feedback from which has been very helpful. The pupils conducted themselves well, and while I am not able to share any formal feedback from the Inspectors at this stage, I did receive informal comments from them about the welcoming nature and politeness of the pupils. The final inspection report should be available to parents around the middle of May.
This week has not been without other special events and invited guests; On Tuesday we had our Spring Concert which involved several pupils from Prep and Senior, there was a mix of singing and instrumental pieces plus a musical theatre number involving Year 7. Last night, the Year 11 pupils (and a bonus Year 10) performed their devised piece, an integral part of their assessment. This production was put together entirely by the pupils including setting, sound, writing and costume, and was a huge success.
These events were Miss Seaton’s final ones with Hollygirt, as we are saying goodbye to her at the end of this term and will be welcoming Mr Everard-Diuk next term. We wish Miss Seaton all the best in her new job and are grateful to her for supporting the pupils through this week’s events.
We’re expecting our skiers back this weekend, do take a look at the amazing photos they’ve been sharing on Facebook if you haven’t already. The staff have reported that a great time is being had by all, and the ski schooling has had a noticeable impact on skill.
Earlier today the school was out on the Elms taking part in Comic Relief challenge, pupils were tasked with getting their steps in during their lunch time by running, power-walking or strolling along the (very well supervised!) Elms. While the primary aim was to raise awareness of the work the charity does, as well as raising a bit of money, Mr Cholerton and I noted the positive impact of getting outside and taking a walk for had on everyone’s mood, you don’t need to look very far to find research on how beneficial to physical and mental wellbeing being outside and moving for 20 minutes can be, we’re hoping we may be able to do more as the weather continues to warm up.
Wishing you all a restful weekend, I think everyone here is looking forward to one!
Ever Onwards and Upwards,
Ms Purdy
