Sport

We use the University of Nottingham’s fabulous facilities for our Games lessons in the Autumn and Spring Term and Harvey Haddon Athletics Stadium in the summer months.

Pupils experience an excellent range of sports. Several play for local clubs as well.   We enter teams into the City Athletics Championships and play competitive and friendly matches with other schools.

The extra curricular programme offers other opportunities to play additional sports and games.

In July, we took students to the Year 7 and 8 City Athletics at Harvey Hadden Stadium. It is a very hard competition and students have to perform well if they are to get to the final of their event. Our 2 main success stories was that Simran Ubhi and India Richardson both reached their respective 100 metre final. Simran finished 8th and India regained her title from Year 7 so has now done the double!

Year 7 and 8 boys took part in the Central League 7-a-side Football Tournament at Fernwood School on Tuesday 26th September and Tuesday 3rd October. They had 4 matches, winning 1 and losing 3.

Pupils from Year 5 and 6 took part in the Sports Hall Athletics Competition held in November at Ellis Guildford. Pupils went with Mrs Morgan and Mr Deacon and took part in a range of running, jumping and throwing events.  Star performer of the event was Andrew who threw the indoor javelin over 30 metres and was the farthest on the day. Well done to all who took part!
