We currently have four vacancies at Hollygirt School:


41 weeks. Term time (37.5 hours per week) plus days at the beginning and end of each term and 4 weeks in the school holidays.

This is a new role working in close co-operation with the Bursar in order to provide the physical facilities and environment required to enable the school to function efficiently through the effective and proactive management of buildings, grounds, cleaning, catering, security and health and safety.

This role requires an energetic approach, coupled with considerable people skills (working in a relatively small team) and ideally, hands-on experience of some, if not all the disciplines above. You should be computer literate and used to working in Excel and Word.

Although this is effectively a management role, you should not be afraid of ‘getting your hands dirty’, as this is a small school and regularly calls for a team effort.

The starting salary will be HA23 £26,999 FTE p.a. (The scale reflects the NJC scale.) The incremental range available is to HA 27.

We are currently looking for 3 new trustees to join the Board at Hollygirt School. We are particularly seeking expertise in the following areas: HR, Finance and Health and Safety.

Hollygirt School Trustees serve in a threefold capacity as:

  • Trustees of the charity
  • Directors of the company
  • Governors of the school

They usually serve for a period of up to 5 years.

Unfortunately we cannot accept applications for these vacancies from current parents at Hollygirt School.

Board members are usually involved in one or more committees and take on some key responsibilities. All attend full board meetings.

There is usually one full board meeting and one of each committee meeting each term. Additionally we put on a full training/strategy day on a Saturday in  in the Summer Term.

Currently there are four committees: Finance and General Purposes (F+GP); Education (Curriculum and Pupils); HR and Marketing and Admissions.

Trustees are welcome into school at any time to peruse files, visit classes, meet the staff or management or for any other purpose. Attendance is expected at the school’s annual Prize Giving (October) and Carol Service (December).

Additional attendance is welcome, though not essential, at Open Days, concerts and shows, sports days, the end of Summer term Staff Lunch and other school events.

There are currently eleven members of the board.

All trustees are subject to a full DBS check and other recruitment checks.

Each trustee should understand and support the ethos of our small independent school.
