Message from the Deputy Head
Dear Parents,
Thursday saw our pupils dressing up as their favourite book characters for World Book Day. [Photographs on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and our website]. Well done to all of those involved, you looked fabulous and thank you to the teachers who read out ‘Seafire’ during the day in all of the classes.
Work on the Junior School roof is now in full swing as is the continued fundraising effort. Thank you for all of your kind donations, we have now raised over £1500. If you would like to make a donation, you can do so via our JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/hollygirt-school
In the Senior School, planning for the Year 11 Prom is gathering pace. Staff and pupils are looking forward to the event on Thursday 25th June. A well deserved celebratory event after the GCSE examination series.
Next week we have Year 9 vaccinations occurring in school on Monday. Open Day is on Wednesday. A reminder that you can use your Reward Cards and get a £50 John Lewis voucher for recommendations you make to other parents. The terms and conditions can be read here.
Friday is a big day at Hollygirt with a Danceathon for Sport Relief, let’s get those sponsorship forms filled in. Parents’ Forum is also on Friday, new parents are always welcome to come along and agenda items can be sent by non-members to Mrs Bamber, at (AndreaBamber@hollygirt.notts.sch.uk).
I am off to cheer on England (v Wales) at the 6 nations at Twickenham this weekend. I wish you a lovely weekend whatever you are doing.

Well done to all who competed in the cross country competitions at Tywcross House School on Monday and Tuesday. Although returning to school covered in mud, everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves. Apparently a few lost shoes on the course! [Photographs on our website].
Booky Breakfast on Wednesday was a huge success and it was great to see so many of you there to share a story. The children performed brilliantly with such a great range of books. Thank you to Mrs Keyworth for organising this and to Year 6 for baking such delicious cakes. We continued our World Book celebrations yesterday by dressing up as our favourite book characters. Thank you to all parents for the huge amount of effort that went into these. [Photographs on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and our website].
Year 1 invited their parents into school yesterday. It was a lovely afternoon and good to have so many parents involved. The children especially enjoyed making their ‘sweet’ houses which looked fantastic!
Today, Mr Goodhead is taking his Under 11s football team to a tournament hosted by Nottingham High School. Good luck to the boys involved. On Monday, the Under 9s will compete in another tournament also hosted by Nottingham High School. On Tuesday, the Under 11s will again compete, this time against St. Augustine’s School.
On Tuesday, Key Stage One are participating in an Agility Festival; this is always good fun and I am sure they will all enjoy it.
It is Open Day on Wednesday and we already have a lot of families coming to visit us; if you know anyone who is interested, please ask them to contact Mrs Bamber (AndreaBreamber@hollygirt.notts.sch.uk).
A group of Year 4 pupils will be visiting Nottingham Girls’ High School on Thursday to take part in a Social Enterprise Day; I am sure they will thoroughly enjoy the experience. On Thursday afternoon, Reception have invited their parents in for the afternoon to spend some time with the children in class.
To raise money for Sport Relief, on Friday, all of the juniors will be taking part in a Danceathon led by Mrs Howlett and Miss Nisan. You should have already received sponsor forms for this but if you need another copy, please let me know.
Have a lovely weekend.
