Sport at Hollygirt aims to provide an enjoyable and challenging programme with opportunities for all to develop physically, emotionally and cognitively. In addition, sport aims to facilitate increased confidence amongst all pupils.
Our programme offers a comprehensive range of experiences to meet the needs of individuals, at the same time embodying attitudes conducive to involvement in an active lifestyle.
Currently we offer the following: hockey, netball, badminton, basketball, cricket, volleyball, football, gymnastics, athletics, tennis, rounders, table tennis, running and at KS1 and 2 swimming.
Everyone is welcome at our extra curricula clubs and activities; which are both competitive and cooperative. We enter Inter School competitions in hockey, athletics and Cross Country. Internally we host Inter House events in hockey, netball, badminton, basketball and athletics. We also deliver the Duke of Edinburgh Award at both Bronze and Silver levels, plus a range of clubs such as running, hockey, fitness, table tennis, and water sports.
We are privileged to be able to use Nottingham University as our main base for sports lessons. The facilities we use are second to none, with outdoor pitches, large sports halls and swimming pool. During the summer athletics is taught at Harvey Haddon Athletics Stadium. PE lessons are taught at school.
