A Letter from Eco Club

Dear Parents,

We are the Junior School Eco Club and we would like to share some of our exciting ideas with you. We may be a small team of ‘Green Warriors’ but we are certainly enthusiastic!

Collecting items to recycle

We are collecting used stamps and milk bottle tops to be recycled for charity.  The milk bottle tops will support the Air Ambulance and the stamps Hearing dogs for Deaf people.  We are also going to be sending off non-savoury biscuit wrappers, multipack biscuit wrappers and McVitie’s Nibbles packs to be recycled (no nuts please)  Please give any of these items to Year 2.  In January, we will be collecting used Christmas cards to be recycled.

‘Waste Free Wednesdays’

We would like to introduce an optionalWaste Free Wednesdays’ challenge where children are encouraged to bring in a snack for break in a reusable container that does not create any waste wrappers.  Snacks still have to be healthy!

Children can also bring in a reusable water bottle, which is taken home each night to be washed, rather than a single use plastic bottle.  It is cheaper and much better for the environment.

Photography Competition (Nursery-Year 6)

We are running a photography competition throughout November, where children can enter a photograph of ‘nature’ (e.g. in your garden, out and about…)  The photograph can be taken however you like, for example, lying on your tummy, or up high like a bird would see.  There will be prizes for the winners in each age category and house points for the runners up.  Photographs must be submitted to Miss Wilson by Thursday 30th November.

Many thanks for your support,

Eco Club (Holly, Oliver, Charlotte C, Charlotte Mc, Simran and Isla)
