Message From the Early Years Co-Ordinator

Last year there were many exciting events that took place in Nursery and Reception.  The children took part in a range of activities to support their learning, both in and out of the classroom.  These included a theatre trip at Christmas, educational visits to The City Farm and Conkers and a visit from the local Fire Station to support topic work. In the lead up to Easter the children were able to incubate their own eggs and watch them hatch as well as learn how to take care of the new baby chicks!

They took part in a Mermaids and Pirates day to consolidate their “Under the Sea” topic as well as enjoying many other opportunities to engage their curiosity and support their learning.

We welcomed new staff in to the EYFS, which has given us the chance to develop the unit and provide even better learning opportunities for our children.  This year sees a continuation of our successful Stay and Play sessions, in which parents and their children are invited to come and spend some time with us in an informal setting.  This is a great chance to come and meet the staff and hear what we have to say about Hollygirt.  We have more exciting events planned this year for our new children as our classes continue to flourish and grow.

At Hollygirt School we follow the EYFS Framework and our highly trained and dedicated staff recognise that all children are unique and individual.  Our small classes allow us to really engage with your child and to ensure that the activities planned are tailor made to each individual.  We encourage our children to develop their independence and curiosity through purposeful play as well as teacher led activities.  Each day provides opportunities for our children to explore, enabling them to develop their confidence and willingness to have a go.
