We normally hold 3 open events throughout the academic year, where the school is open for prospective families to look around and see what we do. During tours, staff are happy to talk about their departments and pupils will happily show the standard of their work. An open event is a good opportunity for you to see what Hollygirt can offer your child. It allows prospective families who may have visited several schools to compare how the pupils present themselves, what the school feels like, what quality of work is produced and what sort of experience a pupil can expect to have at Hollygirt.
There are lots of things for prospective pupils to do along the way, with souvenirs and literature to take home.
Upcoming Open Events:
Friday 5th May 2017
KS2, 3 & 4 (Year 3 to Year 11)
6:00pm – 7:00pm
Saturday 6th May 2017
EYFS & KS1 (Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2)
2:00pm – 4:00pm
Our Headmistress is happy to meet prospective parents and pupils, and show them around the school, by appointment, throughout the year. Please contact the Registrar to arrange a convenient time.
Experience Days / Stay and Play Sessions
Experience Days are available for all prospective pupils, allowing them to join in with lessons and activities on a normal school day. These are not compulsory but they can help in making the ‘which school’ decision, validate the choice or reassure the child that they will make friends and have a good time here. These can be arranged at a convenient time for prospective families.
Our Stay and Play sessions are aimed at our youngest prospective pupils looking for a place in our Nursery or Reception class (EYFS). The children have the opportunity to join in an hour’s activity with our existing pupils and parents can have a chat with key staff.
Upcoming Stay and Play Events:
All from 10.00am to 11.00am
Tuesday 28th March
Friday 28th April
Wednesday 24th May
Tuesday 13th June
Once the Registration Form and fee have been submitted to the Registrar, the child will be invited to spend a day with us at a mutually convenient time. In Junior School these days are informal and based on teacher observations within normal lessons and within the playground. In Senior School the morning assessment includes papers in English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and a Modern Foreign Language. Senior children are encouraged to stay for an afternoon of lessons with their peer group. These are arranged individually at a mutually convenient time or on one of our formal senior assessment days.
Year 5 Taster Day – Friday 30th June 2017
Each Summer Term we hold a Taster Day for pupils, currently in Year 5, who are looking for a Senior School place in Year 7. Our next Taster Day will be for children looking for a Year 7 place from September 2018. Pupils are able to experience what lessons are like, sample our lunches and meet current pupils and staff. Please contact the Registrar if you would like your child to come along.
Contact the Registrar, Lucy Wilkins, to book in for any of these events.
