We currently have two staff vacancies.

Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages: Spanish and French
(Subject Co-ordinator of Spanish)

From April 2018

Hollygirt School is a small independent school, educating children from the age of 3 up to 16.  We take a non-selective intake and have pupils of a wide ranging ability profile.

A small number of our pupils are on EHC plans, many have additional access arrangements for examinations.  We take a two form entry into Senior School. Classes are small.

The MFL Department comprises two teachers, both currently part- time.  They share the responsibilities of Head of Department, one taking on the Spanish responsibility and the other French.

Spanish was a new subject at Hollygirt in 2015 and this year’s cohort are the first to take the GCSE. (Previously German was the school’s second language).

We strive to ensure a dual language pathway to GCSE is offered for pupils at the school.  Though for some of our learners who require more time with their basic skills, MFL is de-selected from the beginning of Senior School.

As a small school, duties and responsibilities are shared.  Additionally, all staff are expected to contribute to the extra- curricular programme.

Hollygirt has its own salary scale: FTE £20,571- £35,026 depending on experience. There is a small additional payment for the administrative co-ordination of the subject.

Teacher of ICT (Head of Department)

Hollygirt School is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher of ICT/Computer Science from April 2018.

The ICT department comprises one teacher in the Senior School, who manages the administration for ICT/Computing in Senior School and works with the Junior Subject Co-ordinator on cross-phase planning. Currently the post holder teaches Year 6. The role includes co-ordinating and teaching ICT/Computer Science throughout the school to GCSE

On the current timetable additional to the Computer Science/ICT teaching, are a number of Junior  School lessons (as stated above), some PSHE teaching and some Design Technology lessons (Year 8 and 9 electronics).

The GCSE option is very popular.  Currently we are offering the OCR specification.

The position is 0.85 FTE this academic year.  There is a possibility for the right applicant that it could be full time and also some flexibility if fewer hours are required for next academic year. We urge any applicant to let us know what they would ideally like in their covering letter.

We are about to commence a rolling programme of upgrading of our hardware.
