Goodbye, Miss Ifould!

We said goodbye to Miss Ifould yesterday after 24 years at Hollygirt School in various capacities, latterly as Head of PE and Senior Teacher (Curriculum).

While the word ‘retirement’ is being used, we know too well that Miss Ifould won’t be sat in an armchair for longer than a minute. In her speech on the last day of term, she told staff how much she is looking forward to gardening, Lego and her new found love of golf. We hope that she will take advantage of being able to stay in bed in the mornings and enjoy her annual holiday to Spain without doing school timetables on the sunbed!

First Lego League Team at the East Midlands Regional Tournament

Mrs Bolton has started an exciting new extra-curricular activity called ‘First Lego League’ which focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) skills such as practical engineering for problem solving and computer programming.

Hollygirt’s ‘First Lego League’ team went to the East Midlands Regional Tournament at The University of Nottingham on Tuesday 19th December to gain insight and ideas about the robots which they will be building themselves for our team entry to the competition next year!
