House Structure

The vertical House structure provides a competitive mechanism and offers a greater social experience for our pupils.

In Junior School, all pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 are attached to one of three vertical Houses: Oak, Elm or Chestnut.

There are four Houses in the Senior School: Clumber, Rufford, Thoresby and Welbeck.  Pupils in Senior School are allocated to a House. Siblings are normally placed in the same House and occasional requests from former pupils for their children to be in the same house are considered.

Pupils in Year 7 to Year 9 are in vertical form groups.  They are joined for House assemblies by Year 10 and Year 11.

There are several opportunities throughout the year for pupils to represent their House in a variety of sports, music and other events.  Merit marks and commendations for good work and progress also contribute to House totals for which trophies are awarded at Prize Giving.
